Dads for Life Blog Contest 2010
I think this will be interesting for daddies out there with their kids at primary or even secondary school level. It will really be heart warming to be able to see what your kids think of you when they blog about you. Of course, that will only work IF and only IF it is the kids that are writing. I might be wrong but it seems like some entries are written way too well (vocabulary and sentence construction) for a primary school kid. Maybe the kid is just smart. I won't know. So I guess I have to give the kids benefit of doubt that the entry is written purely by the children without and help from the parents.
This particular entry looks and reads way out of what a normal primary 3 school kid should be able to write. I felt ashamed reading that. "METICULOUS in office projects and METIER in playing badminton." Wow. I actually did not know what is the meaning of "metier". Again, it might really be the actual work and that my English is weak. So....benefit of doubt given.
There are other heart warming, simple entries written that I would vote for. Simple but it touches my heart. I really like this entry. No fancy, bombastic words. Very "real life" and feels very much from what a Primary school kid would be writing and thinking about.
It should be mentioned that the contest rules states clearly that the entry must be created solely by the child. So if any parents are helping their kids in the contest, they are just imparting wrong values of "cheating". Is the contest more important or teaching your child? Hmmm?
Then again, primary school kids might have advanced more than what primary school kids were like during my time. Or maybe I am just not that smart enough....
