I have always wanted to bring Jayden out to the beach to play and have some fun exploring the great outdoors. With a kid, there are more reasons we should be out there maximizing the finite time we have to bond with the little ones and create lasting memories both for them and ourselves. So with this in mind, I took a deep breathe and decided that we should head out to Sentosa for a day out on the beaches instead of resting at home under the comfort of the air conditioning.
I am glad this decision was made. I had lots of fun playing around and letting little Jayden have a feel of the sand and the sea! To add on, I have not been fully utilizing the Sentosa Family Islander card that we have and I feel that it is screaming to be used!!
I am not a beach go-er in any sense though I love to be more evenly tanned with six-pack abs rather than an "Italy" (一大粒)on my tummy area, if you get what I mean. So I didn't know which beach to go! But that was easy, Palawan beach is promoted as the family fun beach and so that is where we went.
The day was so very very nice. Nice blue skies, soft sand and a cooling sea breeze. The cleanliness of the sea could be still improved though. We were there at about 3pm so it wasn't that hot already. In fact, I thought it was quite cooling the whole time I was there.
We changed him into his cute Thomas swimwear and he is ready for his first experience at the beach. I am curious how he will react to the feeling of sand on his feet and hands after reading about many kids being rather apprehensive of the sand.
But I need not worry. He is a natural. Showed him scooping up sand and he continued while squatting on the sand.
So I let him venture more towards the beach area and he shows no resistance!
Concentrating!!
Finally, I brought him to the beach area and he seems to be amazed by the waves of seawater washing up the shores every now and then.
And finally, into the deeper areas! By the time we left the beach, he was all ok to hold my hand and just walk into the sea without fear. But once some strong waves come and almost tripping his balance, he will cry out to me to "Bao Bao" or hug hug!! Silly little boy.
By the way, the "Port of Lost Wonder" is also opened in Palawan Beach at Sentosa. Many family bloggers have blogged about that area. I think I will skip it for a little while till Jayden is a little older for this. Their target audience is from 3 to 10 years old.
Here's my two darlings with Captain Palawan.
OK. Time to drive out of Sentosa for our dinner.
For this trip, I brought along my Canon Powershot S95 with the waterproof casing, DicaPac WP-310. For the price that I paid for the waterproof casing, I cannot complain much. The casing really has its limitations and I am constantly annoyed by vignetting caused by the lens cover area of the casing and the blur shots due to fogging of lens. (See pic below)
Not being able to easily change camera setting is really getting rather irritating. I think I will be more happy with the new Olympus TG-1 camera, the first Tough camera to be equipped with a high speed F2.0 lens!! I think I am a fan of Olympus cameras now! But then, to spend more than $500 for another camera is not justifiable for me. OK. Enough gadget talk.
I am really eager to go down to the beach again very soon for some more fun time with my family. Love it~
